Indirect sauna lighting is an essential part of a successful whole. Correctly placed light highlights the wood surfaces, creates a calm atmosphere and does not cause glare during your sauna session. Lighting installed under the benches and behind the backrest is often implemented with high-quality LED strips, but certain heat-resistant ceiling lights can also be suitable in the right location. When choosing a solution, you should consider adequate moisture-protected IP ratings, correctly sized drivers and the option for dimming or modern lighting control.

Sauna lighting can be implemented with several types of lights depending on the desired atmosphere and the requirements of the space. High-quality LED strip kits are especially suitable for indirect lighting, with the strips installed under the benches or behind the backrest for a glare-free result.
In certain locations, heat-resistant ceiling lights can also be used, as long as their IP rating and operating temperature are suitable for the sauna. In washing and dressing rooms, moisture-protected downlights work well and provide more even general lighting.
The complete solution always includes a correctly sized driver, adequate moisture-protected IP ratings and the option for dimming or modern lighting control. This way your sauna lighting is both safe and atmospheric.
How to create an atmospheric and glare-free result
Sauna LED lighting as part of the whole
LED lighting is now the most common way to implement sauna lighting. Correctly placed, an LED solution highlights the wood surfaces, adds depth to the space and gives the sauna a polished look without glare.
An atmospheric result comes from indirect light, a warm color temperature (2700–3000K) and the option to dim the lighting to suit the occasion. High-quality LED strips work excellently under the benches and behind the backrest when installed in a protective, light-directing profile and paired with a correctly sized driver.
Dimming, functional lighting control or more advanced smart control complete the setup and let you adjust the lighting for relaxation or brighter task light.

Control and usability
Good sauna lighting is not just about the right output – it should also be adjustable. A soft, dimmed light suits your sauna session, while cleaning calls for brighter lighting.
Modern lighting control lets you adjust the lighting to suit the situation. Dimming can be implemented with a traditional wall dimmer or a wireless solution. More advanced smart control, in turn, integrates your sauna lighting into your home's overall system.

Safety & IP ratings
A sauna is an exceptionally demanding environment for lighting. The temperature can rise high, especially near the ceiling and around the heater, and humidity levels change quickly.
That is why the lights must meet adequate moisture-protected IP ratings, and their operating temperature must be suitable for sauna conditions. In splash areas, a rating of at least IP65 is recommended. A low-voltage installation and a correctly sized driver placed in a dry space improve both safety and lifespan.
Careful planning prevents premature failures and ensures that your sauna lighting works reliably for years.
